Until now, if a modeller wanted to build a late-war Fw 190A-9 or F-9, he would have to raid another kit or resort to scratchbuilding. Cutting Edge has simplified the task by offering the two most common items required for these late Wurgers - the broad chord wooden propeller blades and the 14 blade cooling fan. These are simple replacements for the plastic kit parts, and are applicable to both the Tamiya and Dragon kits.

Cutting Edge are also offering a corrected spinner and new standard metal VDM-9 propeller blades for the Fw 190A and F. These are also applicable to the Fw 190G.

The final items in this batch are two alternate styles of propeller for the Trimaster/Dragon/Italeri 1/48 scale Ta 152H. "Pointed tip" and rounded tip" blades are both available. A corrected spinner is supplied with each set.

The casting is up to the usual standard, and casting blocks are not too frightening. Special thought has obviously been put into the location and size of the blocks on the spinners. A few minutes of careful attention with a razor saw will free these parts without too much trouble. The spinners themselves are each cast in a single piece incorporating the baseplate, internal hub and spinner cap. Shallow locating circles are recessed into the hub. These should be fairly secure if the modeller leaves a millimetre on the ends of the propeller blade mounts when they are removed from their casting blocks. For extra strength, I would recommend drilling the propeller blades and the locating holes, and adding a short length of wire reinforcement.

The profile of the blades and spinners look very accurate.

Wurger fanciers will appreciate these new accessories from Cutting Edge.

Recommended.
