Cutting Edge has added five new releases to its line of replacement resin seats.

They are:

  • CEC48347 - 1/48 scale Spitfire Seat with early belts USD$6.99

  • CEC48348 - 1/48 scale Spitfire Seat with late belts USD$6.99

  • CEC48349 - 1/48 scale Spitfire Seat without belts USD$6.99

  • CEC48364 - 1/48 scale A6M2/A6M3 Zeke/Rufe/Hamp Seat without belts USD$7.99

  • CEC32100 - 1/32 scale Fw 190 Seat with belts USD$5.99

Modellers can choose to use either photo-etched belts or Cutting Edge's flexible resin harnesses on the seats without belts.

The quality of casting is well up to Cutting Edge's high standards.

The Fw 190 and Zeke seats include a moulded seat cushion as well as the harness; while the Spitfire seats are equipped with the typical padded backrest. Note that Spitfire seats were generally left in a dull-red colour of unpainted bakelite.

The Zeke seats are notable for their accurately perforated backrest.

Some of the seats are cast on a solid block of resin. A razor saw will be the most appropriate tool for this job. The seat pans will be quite thin, so take extreme care when removing the block. I have personally had the bitter experience of sawing through the bottom of a seat!

These are a handy and very noticeable accessory for your 1/48 scale WWII fighters.

Recommended.
