Cutting Edge's new F-104G/J/CF-104 Update Set addresses many obvious omissions and adds/corrects small details on Hasegawa's superb 1/48 scale foreign F-104 kits.

The contents of this set do not overlap with cockpit sets released earlier. These details address mainly external airframe features.

The set comprises over 60 parts in grey resin, 18 parts in tinted clear styrene (red, green and yellow) and a tiny Black Magic mask for covering the round navigation lights. Key features include bulged gear doors, a new electronics panel with NACA scoop, superdetailed ordnance racks and rails, drogue chute housing, various antennae, sway braces and canopy demister system amongst other embellishments.

All the parts are perfectly cast. Some of the finer detail should be removed from their casting blocks with extreme care to keep them in one piece. 

If the modeller chooses to fit the replacement drogue door or avionics door, some cutting of the kit fuselage will be required. Otherwise, parts are a straight replacement for kit items, or enhancements to the kit.

The instructions are well up to Cutting Edge's high standards. Construction is clearly called out in both diagrams and pictures on a double-sided sheet.

Cutting Edge's F-104G/J/CF-104 Update Set will be a terrific companion to Hasegawa's foreign F-104 kits and Cutting Edge's exisiting resin cockpit.
