Teknics' 1/48 scale F-86F Sabre Detail set contains resin flaps, gun bay and door, plus brass speed-brake retraction struts, fuel vent and pitot tube. The Hasegawa kit is specified for this set.

Resin casting quality is excellent with no imperfections. The kit flaps will have to be cut from the donor model, but the resin flaps have a tongue to ensure even placement. The interior of the gun bay door is very nicely detailed but care will be needed to remove it from its casting block intact. Be careful not to accidentally remove the back wall of the gunbay insert - it is very fine and looks a bit like flash! It should not be necessary to remove any material from this part.

The brass parts are lovely, with the plumbing detail of the speed brake actuators accurately reproduced. The end of the fuel vent has been convincingly hollowed out too. It took me a few minutes to identify the pitot tube. It was not mentioned in the instructions.

The instructions are a little vague, but the set is so simple that it should not present any great problems to experienced modellers.

Recommended.
