FB.VI Cockpit Detail Set
Reviewed by Brett Green
Adeco continue to impress with their remarkable Mosquito Cockpit Set.
The twenty five resin parts are cast flawlessly in light grey resin. Some of the thinner parts (so thin that they're translucent) have warped slightly, but a dip in warm water will fix that small problem.
The centrepiece of the set is the stepped main cockpit floor/walls. This piece is stunning. Much of the detail is already cast on to this part. I was flabbergasted to see that the navigator's seat is moulded on to this part too. It sits proud of the firewall with detail on the seat back and on the front of the firewall. Words don't do this part justice - you have to see this to believe it!
Harness detail is moulded onto the seats and looks very good indeed.
The sidewalls are also marvellous. They are cast onto a thin wafer of resin and should follow the contour of the kit sidewalls with the application of a little heat. The instructions warn that the resin parts are oversized to allow exact fit, so make sure you measure, test-fit and trim before you glue. I might be tempted to sand the detail off its backing sheet and add the individual features direct to the kit sidewalls.
The rudder pedals, control column and individual tiny levers and handles are also gorgeous. The levers and handles will require special care during assembly or they will easily be lost or broken. A few spares are thoughtfully provided.
The instrument panel has a nice, positive locating point on its back surface to ensure a good fit to the forward bulkhead.
This is another wonderful effort from both Vincent Kermogant who created the master and MDC who cast the pieces so superbly. True added value for your 1/48 scale Mosquito FB.VI!
