Maurizio Di Terlizzi will already be well known to HyperScale regulars for his beautiful models of Italian fighter aircraft in our Gallery.

He is also the author of a series of books on Italian aircraft, and I received three review samples this week.

The three sample books are:

Aviolibri 1 Macchi MC 205 "Veltro"

64 pages including 4 colour pages. Soft cover, perfect bound. 24cm x 17cm format

Aviolibri Special 1 Macchi MC 202 Folgore Pt. 1

64 pages including 8 colour pages. Soft cover, staple bound. 28cm x 20cm format.

Aviolibri 3 - Fiat G.55 Centauro

64 pages including 15 colour pages. Soft cover, perfect bound. 24cm x 17cm format

Each book has been prepared specifically with the modeller in mind.

Text and captions are provided in both Italian and English. The layout of each book is somewhat reminiscent of the Osprey Vanguard series of books, but colour pages are scattered through the book.

All books are lavishly supported by nicely presented black and white photos, plus colour photos, scale plans, scrap-view drawings, "walkaround" detail photos and detailed modelling notes and photographs.

The three books follows a common structure. They commence with a brief but relevant historical summary; a technical description of each type with drawings; detailed description of models and accessories and notes on colours.

The historical text is quite readable and useful. It includes development and operational aspects of each aircraft. I also like the technical section, which combines text, walkaround pictures, scrap-view drawings and plans to clearly describe all the major elements of the subjects.

The modelling section of each book is quite comprehensive. A list of models and accessories is supplied for the type in each scale. The modelling section is also beautifully supported by photos of Maurizio Di Terlizzi's models. These models, in partnership with colourful side profiles, should provide ample inspiration for the modeller.

These books are an excellent one-stop reference for any modeller contemplating building any of the kits various available for the Macchi C.202, C.205 or Fiat G.55.
