A number of kits released in the last couple of years have set new standards for scale aircraft models. A couple of examples are the Tamiya F4U Corsairs and the Tamiya Fw 190A and D kits. Their simplicity and good looks have made these kits justifiably popular.

Ultracast's latest batch of resin replacement seats cover these kits and more.

All sets contain two seats and have harnesses moulded on. Anyone who has wrestled with brass or steel belts will appreciate the simplicity and reliability of a moulded harness! I also prefer the look of the moulded harness when painted - looks more three dimensional to me.

The Fw 190 and F4F seats are simple buckets. The F4U and F6F seats are moulded with their supporting frames in place. This is essential as the harnesses drape over the back of the frames. This is a clever and convincing piece of casting  that generates no more than a translucent wafer of flash between the frame and the seat.

The method of casting is the same as their previous replacement seats. Each seat is cast in a single piece on to a block via three thin connectors. A hobby knife will be sufficient to remove and clean up the join. Casting is once again flawless.

These seats will add an authentic finishing touch to some excellent kit subjects. Highly recommended.
