Yellowhammer Models decal set 32-01 provides markings to produce a 1/32 scale replica of any of the six F-4J Phantoms that were flown by the US Navy's Blue Angels aerobatics team during the 1969 show season using the beautiful new Tamiya kit.

The decal set consists of two full size sheets. The first sheet the stylized US Navy scripts for the undersides of both wings with separate decals for the tricky bits around the undercarriage doors. Also included on this sheet are the yellow markings for the top and bottom of the fuselage (no masking off required to produce these distinctive markings!). The sheet gives the Blue Angels shield in two parts so as to avoid register problems and each of the pilot's names to affix to the front canopy rails. Included amongst these names is that of LT Steve Shoemaker who went on to become a Mig Killer with VF-96 later on in his naval career.

The second sheet provides the final yellow trim to complete the underside markings, the Blue Angels scripts, US Navy scripts, individual aircraft Bureau numbers, the Mc Donnell Douglas Phantom II scripts, and the 1through 6 numerals for the tail.

Both sheets are beautifully printed, thin and with minimal carrier film.

The instruction sheet is a joy to behold as it gives the modeler not only decal placement diagrams but also the main modifications required to the front and rear instrument panels and ejection sheet to make the Tamiya kit into a true miniature replica of a Blue Angels aircraft. The sheet also gives instructions for the detail painting of the aircraft and a recommended mixture of Testors paints to produce the distinctive blue paint that adorn Blue Angels aircraft.

If you are a Phantom fan and would like to produce a truly striking replica then this is the sheet for you. No need for the weathering stage as these aircraft were kept in an absolute pristine and highly polished condition. If you have been looking for an excuse to lash out on a Tamiya kit then this sheet provides that excuse. Go out and buy it!
